The Boston Red Sox will host the New York Mets for their interleague series finale this Sunday night from Fenway Park on ESPN. Boston held off New York to win by two last night, 8-6.
Mets Betting Preview
New York moved to 46-52 after losing to Boston. The Mets had their rally cut short in Game two, and they’ll look to complete the mission Sunday. The New York offense is scoring 3.98 runs per Game, while batting .240, with a .321 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.39 ERA, with a 1.35 WHIP. Pete Alonso has multiple hits in both matchups with Boston, and he leads NYM in home runs (26) and RBI (63). Francisco Lindor has been cold since returning from the break, but he recorded a hit last night, and he’s right behind Alonso for the team-lead in RBI at 61, with 19 homers. Brandon Nimmo plated two runs in the Game one win over Boston, and he leads the team in batting (.260) and hits (97), with 15 HR and 46 RBI.
Carlos Carrasco (3-3, 5.16 ERA, 43 Ks) will get the call for New York. The fourteen-year pitcher reverted to his ways in his return to action last week against Chicago, allowing four runs in 4.2 innings, but he managed to avoid the losing decision. Carrasco’s gem in Arizona may have been fool’s gold, but it’s hard to count the veteran out when he allowed two runs or less in six of the eight starts prior to facing the White Sox. Carrasco will seek better results against this group of Sox here in Game three.

Red Sox Betting Preview
Boston moved to 52-47 after defeating New York. The Red Sox snapped a three-Game skid with the win Saturday, and they’ll look to finish things strong here in Game three. The Boston offense is 4.18 scoring runs per Game, while batting .258, with a .340 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.89 ERA, with a 1.34 WHIP. Masataka Yoshida collected three hits in the Game two victory, and he leads Boston in batting (.319), with 51 RBI. Rafael Devers has recorded a hit in eight of the previous ten Games, and he’s first on the team in HR (23) and RBI (73). Justin Turner has produced a run in seven of the last ten contests, and he’s posting splits of .286/16/64, while leading the Sox in hits (104).
Brennan Bernardino (1-0, 2.48 ERA, 35 Ks) will make the bullpen start for Boston. The second-year pitcher has been one of the top relief pitchers in baseball this season, with twelve of his last sixteen outings going scoring. Bernardino did happen to allow a run to the Mets in an appearance on Friday, but he managed to complete the frame by tossing two strikeouts, and he’ll likely deliver a cleaner effort here.
New York vs Boston Trends
New York is 39-59 against the spread this season, with a 40-54-4 O/U record. Boston is 52-47 ATS this year, with a 52-44-3 over/under record.
Corey’s Free Pick
This pick your poison spot for Yankees fans feels like it could be trouble for Carlos Carrasco. The Red Sox have been hot at the plate this month, and it’s likely they keep things going against the veteran pitcher here. This one should be contested, but I like backing Boston at home for this interleague matchup.
